What Is the Food Drop?
United Way’s Food Drop is a free food distribution event that supports individuals and families who are in need. We understand that circumstances change from month to month. That’s why we operate on an expressed need model and ask participants to register each month if they’d like to receive food.
At each Food Drop, registered households drive through a car line and receive an assortment of groceries at no cost.
Where and When?
We rotate Food Drop locations monthly between Douglas and Pope Counties. Each month features one Food Drop event at either of these sites:
- Alexandria: New Life Christian Church
1910 County Road 82 SE, Alexandria, MN - Glenwood: Glenwood United Parish
10 17th Ave NW, Glenwood, MN
You are welcome to attend any Food Drop, regardless of your county of residence. Food selections and quantities are the same across all pick-up times.

How to Register
You must register each month to participate.
Step 1: Sign Up
Online and phone registration will open on
Monday, December 15th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or until all slots are filled.

Or call us at 320-834-7800 during registration hours if you don’t have internet access
UPDATE 12/15/ 2025 at 4pm. December's food drop is almost full - please call in the morning on Tuesday 12/16 to check to see if spots are still open.
Step 2: Receive Your Time Slot
Within 24 hours of registering, we will contact you via phone or email with your scheduled pick-up time. Please plan to arrive during your assigned time slot. If someone else will pick up food for you, please indicate that on the registration form.
All personal information is kept confidential between United Way staff and Food Drop volunteers.
